Description: Whilst this video was uploaded in 2009, it still address many issues on how people of our generation needs to adapt with the ever changing use of technologies today. It outlines many ways in which technology is used or has been used over time. The information given is facts such as 'how many youtube clips are viewed every day', ' how many texts are received on a daily basis', ' how many songs are downloaded illegally', ' how many computers were sold in 2008', 'how many searches were made on google each month'. At the end of the video, it prompts the viewer to address these issues and question how they can re-adapt and re-think to make the world more sustainable and aware of the technological consumptions that are overtaking our social lives.
Strategies to achieve the learning goal: Viewing this learning object with help students to identify how they use ICT in many ways using multiple technological devices. Not only will they become aware of the many different technologies that are available, they will be aware of the many different uses they have in society and how people thrive off them. Strategies to further the students understanding of technology could be that following this video, they take part in classroom activities that brainstorm all the different types of technology discussed in the video, and the teacher could explain to them the many different uses each piece of technology has. Students will then be able to broaden their current capabilities of technology and develop a wider usage of them in their own lives. Hopefully by the end of these activities, students will be able to identify how they use ICT in multiple ways on multiple devices confidently and adequately. They will be able to use these devices to gain awareness of knowledge and conveying social protocols when using ICT to communicate. They will also become aware of the many different functions that each technological device has and will hopefully be able to develop ways in which they can create visuals, texts and photos on them.
